If you ignore all the reasons software makers need to be incentivized to build good software and create sustainable businesses — how would an operating system look if it was designed to be more composable. If most use-cases we have today remained, could they be better served under the UNIX philosophy?

  1. Write programs that do one thing and do it well.
  2. Write programs to work together.
  3. Write programs to handle text streams, because that is a universal interface.

I dunno, it’s been on my mind lately.
